♥The Brightest Kingdom!♥
Eight small soldiers were in the field gathering food for Dinner.
Allan spoke up and said, "What are we men doing out here gathering food for dinner?"
"Yes the women should do this, while we visit with our acquaintances in the commoners square." George said.
Then the last of the eight, Constant came over the hill towards the other men. Constant had a big basket of vegetables with him. He looked disappointed in the other men.
"You men don’t look well enough; I have been picking the ripest vegetables I've ever seen. Where you men just passed them and moved on. George what were you thinking picking spoiled cabbage are you trying to make us all sick as dogs?"
Constant took all the vegetables out of George's basket and threw them on the ground.
He just stared waiting for an answer.
"I didn’t know Constant. I'm sorry I won't let it happen again."
"Come on Men it's nearly time for our wives to prepare dinner." Said Allan.
All the men let out a masculine "YEAH!!!!"
King Gregory the Great stood in front of his men at the table and said, "My good men we have been called out to war! The rival King Brutus has sent me a message he says that 14 of his best men accompanied by the Queen and himself will be coming for us. He says it will take the sun to fall four times before they arrive so what do you say men? War or does our great kingdom fall to Brutus'?"
"WAR!"
"What does this mean?"
"WAR!"
"WAR?!?"
"WAR!!!"
"Ok men line up I will give you all of your positions."
The men lined up as they were told. They were given their positions according to their rank (which they weren’t aware of)
"Constant: pawn, George: pawn, Allan: pawn, Augustine: pawn, Addison: pawn, Ivan: pawn, Fuller: pawn, Gavin: pawn, Ladislas and Kimball you will both be rooks, Norman and Wade you will both be bishops, Colin and Alistair you are both knights. And of course I am the king and Ava is my queen. If any of you pawns get across the battlefield your rank will be boosted up to the equivalent of a Queen. "
That night Constant laid in his bed under the stars he was reminiscing about his child hood life. As he fell into a deep sleep he was thinking about what would happen to him if he was killed in the war and what would happen to his family he was their only form of support. He was asleep he dreamed of his favorite childhood memory: when he was 14 he was very small his mom was weeding in the garden and he was playing in the field just to the side of the garden. He heard some rustling in the bushes and looked around; he saw a puma stalking his mom she was in the stance to pounce. He ran inside as quietly as he could and got his dads rifle from the war off of the mantle and ran back outside he cocked the gun and waited. The puma leaped as his mom and he pulled the trigger he was knocked on his back as he struggled to get up he cocked the gun again and let out another shot at the puma and hit her, he was knocked his back again. He struggled to his feet and saw the puma lying on her side dead. Then he woke up.
He didn’t tell anyone about his dream he just kept it playing and replaying it in the back of his head.
The next morning he was put on a ship to cross the Black Sea he boarded the ship with his few belongings and waved goodbye to his mom, his wife and 2 children.
"I'll be back home soon! I love you!"
Then he was knocked to the ground by an unknown force he looked to his right then to his left then towards his feet and then up there was a large sheep dog sitting over him.
"Hey boy who are you? Do you have a collar?"
Constant looked for a collar but all he found was an old rope tied around his neck.
"Do you belong to someone?"
Constant walked slowly to his quarters with the dog by his side he would be bunking with this dog while they crossed the Black Sea to the battle field.
" Since your owner is nowhere to be found I'll call you Bobby, there you go boy, Bobby is your new name." as Constant walked Bobby stopped and sniffed the air. Constant whistled
"Come here Bobby!"
Bobby came bounding to Constant. The next 3 days they were on the ship to Camelot, their battle field.
Constant took a step off of the boat with Bobby loyally by his side.
"Hey Boy are you ready to win this war?"
"WOOF"
"Me too."
Constant went to the base camp where set up his tent, got out his sword, made a bed for Bobby, and then one for himself. He then went to fire and got his dinner he got a steak for him and one for Bobby (which he cut up in little pieces.)
Then he fell into a deep, deep sleep. He didn’t dream. This was a too peaceful sleep to be interrupted by a dream.
When he awoke every body was outside waiting for him. He got into his uniform and told Bobby to stay!
The men all lined up waiting for the dark kingdom to make their move. Once Constant saw another pawn on the dark kingdoms side his name was Rocco! (Like himself) move forward he raised his sword,
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"
The soldiers fell one by one. The Dark king was hiding in a corner the Bright kingdom knew about it but the dark Kingdom did not know about the Bright kingdom knowing. Constant the pawn and the King were the only two that were left.
The dark king emerged from his corner he looked at Constant with his sword drawn
"Any last words?"
"Just two"
"Check mate!"
Constant leaped just as the king took a mighty swing at Constant. He had made it to the other side his rank was boosted up to a Queen. The King had nowhere to go.
"No!"
He disintegrated into a pile of dust on top there was a crown. Constant took it just as he set it on top of his head the whole Dark Kingdom brightened. He was now the Prince of the Bright Kingdom.
Constant returned home and inherited the throws, family moved into the castle with him and so did Bobby. Constant ruled the bright kingdom for 88 years before he died. Then his son took his rightful place as King and he is still ruling today.
